If you are into super hard games for absolutely no reason, you may enjoy Hardventure Into The Duat as it features controls so difficult to grasp you tear your eyes out and an unforgiving upgrade system. Hardventure Into The Duat has a good idea of concept and as much as I want to enjoy it...I just couldn't.
At first glance, Hardventure Into The Duat looks like it'll be a great game. Very good graphics, a pumping soundtrack, backed by ArmorGames, etc. However, that first play you just go "what!?". You see, the goal in Hardventure Into The Duat is that you play a heart gathering red dots in various rooms and once you gather enough you go to a lower room that is harder. Rinse, wash, repeat. However, in an effort to be clever and "realistic", the heart moves in a weird way. Specifically, you flop around just like a beating heart. Interesting? Yes. Practical in use? Unfortunately no. This leads to intense frustration of timing your jumps (or flops) right and just a terrible control scheme.
The other main issue I have stems off the bad control issue, otherwise it wouldn't be a problem at all. But since the controls are so wonky, you die a lot, often and early. Meaning you earn little money which means you can't upgrade yourself that much to make it better. The upgrade system in itself is fairly extensive but I don't hate myself enough to grind and grind to get anything. Hardventure Into The Duat is a real shame as I like the concept, a fun action platformer that is tough as nails, but in actuality is too hard to actually play and enjoy.
