Jay Armstrong is back with the great art backing of Jimp, you just know it's going to be a good game! This time their foray is Zombinsanity and no it is not a workout series dealing with zombies but rather a platform shooter with elements of a roguelike that is quite fun to play.

The backstory behind Zombinsanity is that you are awoken from your cryogenic sleep chamber to fight off a zombie attack on the space station. From there you start out with just a pistol and yourself as you fight off waves of zombies. Each room is one zombie wave and after you clear that room you go to another one. This is sort of where the roguelike aspect comes into play as each room is randomly generated although there aren't many options to what will be in there. In general, Zombinsanity has a lot of great ideas. For instance, you can find survivors and form sort of a group. You can then assign these people, if you want, to man health stations or repair stations to charge special powerups or station them at key points in battle. There are also a decent amount of weapons you can buy and then upgrade.

However, I feel Zombinsanity didn't go far enough and just has a good foundation. The roguelike aspects are too few and not randomized enough. It would be cool to just have more variety in everything. I also think the upgrade system is severely lacking and would like to be able to give better weapons somehow to my squad (and perhaps in general just customize them as well). As it is now, Zombinsanity is a fun game to play but only a few times, I don't really get the feeling to replay it. Still, Zombinsanity is fun to play and it is high quality as you'd expect from Jay Armstrong and Jimp.
