If you've played any of the Papa's -ria games then you'll know what to mainly expect in Papa's Pastaria except this time you'll be cooking pasta. So in this iteration the cooking is of course going to be different. You have to put the pasta in to boil, stir it halfway, drain and then put the sauce on it and all the fixings. An extra step in Papa's Pastaria which is fitting with the theme is you have to toast bread which adds more time and an extra step. I'll admit that I think Papa's Pastaria is one of the more harder Papa's games mainly due to the amount of steps it takes to cook the pasta and each step takes a lot of time.
Nothing really changes in Papa's Pastaria compared to Papa's games in the past which means you'll either love the extremely picky and relatively slow ordering and building system or you'll hate it. Mini-games are back with a few new ones that are always fun as well as the improved decorating system that was introduced in Cupcakeria. Each Papa's game iteration seems to add at least one new thing and it seems that in Papa's Pastaria's case it is a new serving room. This means you get to hire waitresses to take orders in a nonvisual dining room. This doesn't affect gameplay too much aside from a more atmospheric feel to it all. So you know what to expect with Papa's Pastaria. If you like the finickiness of it all give it a try! If not..well, they are still good games just may not be for everyone.
